2012 – A Supreme Choice

Posted on April 30, 2011 by

If you think Citizens United was bad, just give republicans a chance to pick the next one or more supreme court justices.

Handing corporations free reign to manipulate the political system was only the beginning of the far right’s judicial agenda.

Next in line could be eviscerating the commerce clause which enables the federal government to regulate pollution, food safety and workplace hazards.

A republican white house and senate would treat any high court vacancy as an opportunity to unwind America and return us to the Calvin Coolidge era.

Criticize President Obama all you want but please compare Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan to John Roberts and Samuel Alito

Then take a look at the ages of current justices and consider what’s at stake in 2012.

  • Ruth Bader Ginsberg - 78 (Clinton)
  • Antonin Scalia - 75 (Reagan)
  • Anthony Kennedy - 74 (Reagan)
  • Stephen Breyer - 72 (Clinton)
  • Clarence Thomas - 62 (Bush Sr.)
  • Samuel Alito 61 - (Bush Jr.)
  • John Roberts 56 - (Bush Jr.)
  • Sonia Sotomayor - 56 (Obama)
  • Elena Kagan 51 - (Obama)
