Liberate Main Street?

Remember the Coffee Party

That was the feeble attempt by a few progressives more than a year ago to answer the growing prominence and power of the tea party.

It didn’t get much traction.

Now opponents of  Occupy Wall Street, eager to find an antidote to what they fear may become a mass movement, have come up with “Liberate Main Street.”

It calls for – you guessed it – lower taxes and reduced regulation on business to unleash the American economy.

Promoted by the conservative Weekly Standard, LMS was apparently conceived by Montana republicans as an election campaign theme.

Expect Fox News to incorporate “Liberate Main Street” into its segment scripts.  But don’t be surprised if LMS turns into the right’s version of the coffee party and just as quickly drips away.
