Unions “Ambush” America

Posted on February 16, 2012 by

Did you know that American unions are planning to “ambush” employers throughout the land?

“…[S]tifling employer free speech and worker free choice.”

That’s how the republican-controlled House Education and Workforce Committee officially describes a modest rule change by the National Labor Relations Board [NLRB] to allow certification elections within ten days.

Of course, what the republicans are objecting to is any reform which would restrict employers from intimidating workers or endlessly delaying a union vote.

So 65 representatives and 44 senators will try to block the board’s action by making the case that President Obama’s recent NLRB “recess” appointments were illegitimate and an unconstitutional violation of separation of powers doctrine.

Republicans vow to take this case to the Supreme Court and argue that any rulings made by current labor board members be vacated.

(Another NLRB pending rule change would require employers to display a poster outlining workers rights to organize.  A lawsuit by the National Federation of  Independent Business and others call that requirement “punitive.“)

Do you need any more evidence of how serious republicans and their allies are about ending unionism in America?
