Gay Marriage – A Supreme Issue

Full marriage equality will not be achieved without the vote of five justices of the United States Supreme Court.

A Mitt Romney presidency could delay that for a generation.

Two major cases are currently winding their way through the federal appeals process with more to come.

A high court decision on California’s Prop 8 could be limited to questions of due process but the Massachusetts gay marriage law could directly address federal benefits to same-sex couples.

One or more Romney appointees to the Supreme Court would radically diminish the prospect of gay marriage as a constitutional right.

Making a second term for Barack Obama pivotal for the American gay rights movement this century.
